Organizational Coordinator

Antidote is seeking a dynamic and innovative Organizational Coordinator who will be responsible for general organizational coordination, network and program development, member and partnership growth.The Organizational Coordinator will report to Antidote’s Board of Directors and will work collaboratively with the Youth Program Coordinator, other staff and volunteers.

General Role Description

  • Working within Antidote’s mandate, the Organizational Coordinator will support Antidote’s Board of Directors, staff and network members to coordinate, expand, develop and engage the community, current partners and potential funders.
  • The Organizational Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day communications, outreach and development of various youth-centered projects, broaden a grassroots network among multiracial and Indigenous girls and women and between current and potential partners and funders.
  • The Organizational Coordinator will initiate and manage fundraising activities, identify potential funders, develop and submit funding proposals in keeping with Board mandates and be the key facilitator in increasing and maintaining participation of Antidote’s network.

Duties / Responsibilities
• Work with Antidote Board to expand and sustain meaningful community partnerships and collaborations;
• Support strategic plan development;
• Organize Antidote activities and meetings;
• Coordinate and collaborate with Antidote staff on network activities and projects;
• Identify current issues and interests within network, support program development and coalition building to address priorities;
• Promote and coordinate Antidote volunteer participation;
• Mobilize and increase volunteer engagement among Antidote member categories:
Indigenous and Queer liaison, gurlz, sistahs, and aunties;
• Ensure the production and distribution of regular updates and relevant information to Board, members, supporters, and partners;
• Research, identification and completion of funding proposals to support priority areas of the network members and Board of Directors;
• Initiate and manage all fundraising activities, including event planning, community relations, implementation support, and volunteers through special events, foundations, and program grants;
• Organize professional development activities where appropriate.

Key Competencies
• Experience and understanding of gendered racialization, feminist, antiracist and
decolonization theory and practice;
• Understanding and commitment to Antidote’s mandate;
• Demonstrated background and training in community development, outreach and grassroots organizing;
• Experience in anti-racist, youth-centered, participatory action research and popular education
methodology;
• Excellent writing, computer and communication skills for a diverse network;
• Internet and social media competencies;
• A minimum of 3 years experience Organizational and Project Management;
• Financial administration, planning and budgeting skills;
• Community development, organizing;
• Interpersonal and group work skills, especially with youth, minority and marginalized communities;
• Demonstrated effectiveness in working with volunteers from diverse backgrounds;
• Strong analytical and program solving abilities, communications and negotiation skills
• Group building skills
• Decision making skills
• Stress and time management skills;
• Ability to multi-task and work with limited supervision;
• Honesty and trustworthiness, cultural sensitivity and awareness.

Preferred Experience
• Experiential knowledge as a racialized, Indigenous or minoritized person in Canada;
• A minimum of 3 years experience in organizational management, project coordination and financial administration;
• A minimum of two years’ experience in staff recruitment, training and supervising staff and volunteers;
• Undergraduate or Graduate level Social Sciences or Human Services, such as – Indigenous or Women’s Studies, Education, Social Work, Human Rights, Sociology, Child and Youth Care, Social Justice and/or 5 years experience working in the community and building community, non-profit organizational management, including supervision of staff and volunteers;
• Demonstrated experience working with youth;
• Supervision and motivation of small staff teams;
• Fundraising experience including grant writing;
• Demonstrated capacity and success in identifying and securing funding from private and public funding sources;
• Experience working with and liaising with all levels of government and funding agencies

Job Conditions:
Start Date: September 17th, 2012 (negotiable based on availability)
Remuneration: $25.00/hr inclusive of statutory benefits
Hours per week: 25 hours a week, core and flexible hours
Position timeline: September 17th, 2012 to March 31st, 2013 – with possible extension
depending on funding
• Additional hours may be required from time to time to meet project deadlines, workshop
facilitation, attending Board and working group meetings and representing Antidote at public
events
• Travel may be required from time to time and will be reimbursed in accordance to Antidote Financial Policy
